the elephant bath

Elephants are truly incredible animals. They are magnificient yet gentle, and have an undeniable link to us as humans and the ways in which we function. More than anything, they are truly incredible to photograph. On a trip to Kerala, I got the opportunity to meet this elephant as he was being bathed in a river in the early hours of the morning. He was being brushed with coconut husks, lying on his side, without a care in the world. The moment when he stood up in front of me, stared right at me was one to remember – and that is my favourite of the series. I present to you – the Indian elephant, in all it’s glory.
